สรุป (TL;DR)

R-32 price in Thailand 2026 ≈ ฿3,500-4,200 per 9.5 kg cylinder (Daikin/Mitsubishi spec) — 50% cheaper than R-410A thanks to lower GWP (675 vs 2088) + no Kigali phase-down — choose R-32 for every new machine. Never top up R-410A because the system pressures differ.

Refrigerant is the heart of every cooling system, from air conditioners in buildings, offices, and factories to large-scale refrigeration in warehouses and cold rooms. Choosing the right type and the right price of refrigerant from a trustworthy supplier therefore has a direct impact on operating costs and system safety.

This article compiles market price data, a properties comparison, and ordering guidance for R32 and R410a refrigerants in Thailand in 2026, for professional air-conditioning technicians, HVAC engineers, and factory purchasers.

Refrigerant Prices in the Thai Market, 2026

Refrigerant prices change with crude oil prices, exchange rates, and the HFC phase-out policy of the Kigali Amendment. The table below shows reference price ranges for the Thai market as of early 2026:

Refrigerant Cylinder Size Approximate Price (THB) Notes
R32 10 kg 2,800–4,500 ~280–450 THB per kg
R32 11.3 kg (25 lb) 3,200–5,000 Dupont Freon / ORAFON brand
R410a 11.3 kg 3,500–5,500 ~310–490 THB per kg
R410a 25 kg 7,500–12,000 Bulk buy, factory/technician fleet
R134a 13.6 kg 2,500–4,000 Automotive/refrigerator use

Note: The prices above are retail/small-wholesale prices. Actual prices depend on order quantity, brand, and shipping costs. Ask for the latest price directly at 02-096-2118.

R32 vs R410a Comparison Table

Choosing between R32 and R410a requires considering technical and environmental factors together:

Property R32 R410a
Chemical composition CH₂F₂ (100% pure) R32/R125 blend (50/50)
GWP (Global Warming Potential) 675 2,088
Safety classification (ASHRAE 34) A2L (mildly flammable) A1 (non-flammable)
Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) 0 0
Energy efficiency (COP) ~5–10% higher than R410a standard
System pressure slightly lower than R410a high (~3.0 MPa at 50°C)
Price (2026) ~10–20% cheaper higher
Future after Kigali still usable continuously Phase-down from 2030+
New machines supported All inverter AC brands Older–current machines

Conclusion: Should you choose R32 or R410a?

  • Choose R32 for new air conditioners bought from 2020 onwards. Nearly every brand (Daikin, Mitsubishi, Samsung, LG) is now designed to support R32. GWP is 3× lower and it is more energy-efficient.
  • Choose R410a for older systems still running R410a that are not yet due for replacement. Switching refrigerant across types without changing the accompanying components (compressor oil, seals) can damage the system.

Standards and Licenses to Know Before Buying

ASHRAE Standard 34 — Safety Classification

ASHRAE 34 defines the refrigerant safety code in 2 parts:

  • Letter A/B = toxicity level (A = low toxicity, B = higher toxicity)
  • Number 1/2/3 = flammability level (1 = non-flammable, 2L = very low flammability, 3 = highly flammable)

R32 is classified as A2L — very low flammability risk (Minimum Ignition Energy > 10 mJ, burning velocity ≤ 10 cm/s) but it must be used in a well-ventilated area and ignition sources must be avoided during charging.

Kigali Amendment — HFC Phase-down Plan in Thailand

Thailand is a party to the Montreal Protocol and has signed the Kigali Amendment, which mandates reducing HFC use:

  • Group A5 (developing countries, including Thailand): freeze in 2024 → reduce 10% in 2029 → reduce 30% in 2035
  • R410a (GWP 2,088) will be phased down before R32 (GWP 675)
  • Effect on price: R410a stock may become more expensive in the long term, while R32 will continue to be mainstream.

Hazardous Substance License (วอ.) — very important

HFC-type refrigerants are classified as Type 3 hazardous substances under the Hazardous Substance Act B.E. 2535. Suppliers must hold a license from the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) or a relevant authority.

Before buying, you should ask the supplier:

  1. Do they hold a hazardous-substance business license (บอ.1)?
  2. Does the product come with a complete Safety Data Sheet (SDS) of all 16 sections per the GHS standard?
  3. Do the cylinders have complete UN Number labels and Hazard Diamonds?

Buying from a supplier without a license is not only illegal but also risks receiving counterfeit goods or contaminated refrigerant, which can damage the air-conditioning system.

How to Order Refrigerant Correctly

Minimum Quantity and Delivery Format

  • Retail (individual technicians): buy from 1 cylinder (10–13.6 kg depending on type) — pick up at the warehouse, or delivery via private courier (advance notice required for hazardous substances)
  • Wholesale (fleet technicians / contractors): order 10 cylinders or more — special pricing, dedicated truck delivery
  • Factory / cold room: order by the pallet or ISO tank for large volumes — requires storage space meeting OHSAS/ISO 45001 standards

Documents to Prepare (when buying in a company's name)

  • Purchase Order (PO) specifying the type and quantity of refrigerant
  • A copy of the commercial registration or company certificate
  • The name of the engineer or safety officer responsible at the company

Tax Invoice and Accounting Documents

A legal supplier must issue a VAT tax invoice (ภพ.30) every time. When purchasing for production or maintenance, the input tax can be claimed back as allowed by law.

Frequently Asked Questions About Buying Refrigerant

Q: Can R32 and R410a be used interchangeably? No. The two types have different chemical compositions, different pressures, and compatible compressor oils that differ (R32 uses POE Oil, R410a also uses POE Oil but with a different formulation). Charging the wrong type will damage the compressor and cause system leaks.

Q: Why is R32 cheaper than R410a? R32 is a single pure substance (single component) and is simpler to produce than R410a, which is a 2-substance blend. In addition, global R32 production has risen sharply due to high adoption in new machines, lowering costs.

Q: How do you store refrigerant safely? Store in a well-ventilated area, away from heat and ignition sources, at a storage temperature not exceeding 50°C, with cylinders standing upright, away from incompatible chemicals (strong acids, strong bases), and labeled per the GHS standard.

Q: Do refrigerant cylinders expire? The refrigerant itself does not expire as long as it remains in a fully sealed cylinder, but the cylinder has a service life (check the test date on the cylinder). A cylinder past 5 years must pass a new pressure test before being refilled.

Q: Can you still buy R22 refrigerant? R22 (HCFC-22) is an ODS (Ozone-Depleting Substance) currently being phased out under the Montreal Protocol. In Thailand it can still be sold for maintaining older systems, but stock is steadily declining and prices are trending upward — we recommend replacing the system rather than relying on R22 in the long term.

Refrigerant Quality Indicators to Check

Before accepting refrigerant, especially for large projects, you should request a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) from the supplier, which must state:

  • Purity ≥ 99.5% (for R32) or per the brand spec
  • Moisture content ≤ 10 ppm — high moisture causes acid to corrode the inside of the system
  • Residue on evaporation ≤ 0.01% — check for oil contamination or foreign matter
  • Acidity ≤ 1 ppm (as HCl equivalent)

Why You Should Buy from a Licensed Supplier

Counterfeit and low-quality refrigerant is sold in the online market. Common problems are:

  1. Quantity does not match the label — a "10 kg" cylinder may actually contain only 8.5 kg of refrigerant
  2. Moisture or oil contamination — causes the system to clog or the compressor to fail within 6–12 months
  3. Refrigerant type does not match the label — counterfeit R32 that is actually an HC blend (Propane/Butane), which is far more flammable and dangerous
  4. No SDS documentation — if an accident occurs, the operator may bear legal liability
